★ Character Information ★
Character Name: Leonardo Hamato
Character Age: 16 years old
Character Species: Mutant, mutated through alchemic mystic science from a red eared slider and human dna
Current Health: Healthy!
Outfit: Wearing jacket, polo, and pants and shoes, along with his belt/pouch/sword holsters and swords

Character Canon: Rise of the Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles (RotTMNT)
Link to History: canon wiki + Leo specific wiki. I can expand on any of this if needed.
Canon Point: Post-movie
Canon Iteration: CRAU
Canon Iteration Explanation: Leo was pulled from several months after the movie to Apocalypse How, a game set in the New England area and told his powers were now connected to a Cthulu-esque fear entity and he could no longer use them, and also he had to live in a super secret science corporate owned building and hide while also trying to help fight the end of the world. He didn’t actually do much given they didn’t do much to help him. He was there a month without anyone he knew, then his brother Donnie showed up and they started trying to investigate ways to get out but didn’t get far. Given that ADI - the group housing them - didn’t do much to actually help them get home, Leo didn’t feel all that positively about helping them fight these monsters they were told they couldn’t actually stop. Development-wise, not much really changed for him.

★ Folkmore Roles & Attributes ★

Skills: The boys are trained in ninjutsu and martial arts, with Leonardo in a specialty of kenjutsu. He’s naturally gifted with it and his sword(s), faster than the eye can track, utterly silent unless he wants to make noise. He’s held his own in a lot of fights by the time the movie comes around. Also being a mutated turtle, he’s got a lot of endurance and can take a lot of damage before his shell starts cracking. Boy here literally cracked space metal with his shell and still got up to get back in the fight. He’s adaptable to situations on the fly, has plans and contingency plans on top of that based on whatever’s going on. He’s also naturally gifted at reading people and knowing what to say to manipulate a situation to what he wants.
Canon Abilities: There are two main sources of “magic” abilities in the turtle family in Rise:
Mystic: It’s talked about very vaguely, but mystic powers are inhuman magics sourced by an element called “emperyan” which was founded centuries ago in the a Hidden City under NYC. This element is what the Youkai civilization built their city around. It powers a lot of different things? A lot of different things, depending on who’s using it. For Leonardo, his mystic powers are channeled through his swords allowing him to either make short range portals, or teleport himself to one of his swords. That’s it that’s all he uses that for!
???: His other “magic” ability is the Hamato family Ninpo. A power only of the Hamato clan that allows them to tap into an internal power source. This ability allows them to speak with their ancestors, enhance his speed and agility, he can make weapons from ordinary items with focus, and occasionally summon their ancestors for an assist in a fight (rare, usually requires the entire team together). If his brothers are close by, they can also feel each other nearby and have “mind meld” which is just ninja bro telepathy. The ninpo is powered by the brothers’ trust in each other to trust them
Role: Familiar
Role Qualities/Attributes: Shape changing baybee. His main form will be a pine marten! I also want to play with maybe the possibility of him shifting into a human form and keeping the hair in his turtle natural form but who knows.
Role Reasoning: Leo is, for all intents and purposes, a weird dude. He has a good sense of right and wrong, but he tends to favor whatever keeps his family and loved ones safe rather than what is “morally right”. He doesn’t actually care all that much about rando strangers he’s never met, or enemies that actively try to fight or kill them. He also, in canon, is the ‘face man’ of the family, smooth talking in whatever way they need to get into places, acquire goods, anything. It’s this kind of social chameleon and morally gray attitude that makes him a great familiar.

★ Personality ★

Please choose one of the following options for your personality section. Please clarify which option you have picked and, if option 2, which questions you are answering:

OPTION 2 QUESTIONS (PICK 4-5) 100-300 WORD LIMIT EACH:

  • What was the most traumatic experience your character endured? How did this change them? Probably the most traumatic to date is the single choice to not take a mission seriously. He joked around and showed off and lost them a relic that started the end of the world by alien warlords and got their brother kidnapped and assimilated. Leo went through stages of anger and stubborn bullheadedness before realizing he has to consider others around him if he wants to be a good leader; not just what he can do to be in charge. It made him more willing to listen and acknowledge when others may have more insight than he does.

  • What is the most important and defining relationship(s) in your character's life and why? The most important is the relationship he has with his brothers. They support each other, they love each other, they trust each other. There was some rocky times throughout the series where he was the voice of common sense and they didn’t listen to him, or he had a surefire plan to make things work that they didn’t trust him for. But ultimately, he knows they trust each other enough to never question it by the end. They trust each other so much their powers are literally fueled by it.

  • What is a headcanon (or two) you feel strongly about and that you prefer playing your character with? How is this supported in canon and why do you think it benefits the character's story? Ok this is a weird thing but! Leonardo is mutated from a red eared slider. In the real world, sliders actually have very bad hearing compared to other turtles and rely on vibrations more than anything. It’s something I keep in mind as it could be explanation enough for how he can read people - picking up on their physical behavior, posture and how they move, and paying attention to the world around him which is excellent for how he maneuvers on a battlefield and is shown usually portaling his brothers where they need to be in a fight. Just generally causing him to be more spatially aware. This also can be played into their ninjutsu of needing to stay quiet while out and knowing some signs to use that they picked up over time.

  • What is your character's moral code? Do they have one? Why or why not? This was mentioned in his Familiar suitability, but his moral code is “what keeps my family alive”. Mikey has the hope, Raph has the hero ideology, Don has the “would be evil if not for them” mindset. Leo looks out for his family first and always, everyone else second, enemies dead last. He knows his family are kind of at 100% at all times without a lot of thought to what’s actually happening and he tries to keep everyone on point where he can. He does tend to be a little selfish at times as well, if there isn't any world threatening problem at hand. Smaller day to day things? He will absolutely look out for himself. It's only when his family is in danger that he thinks outwardly.

  • What is your character's safespace? When do they feel the most settled and comfortable? When do they feel confident and relaxed? Leo feels the most relaxed and comfortable in his home. Unlike his brothers, he never showed any real interest in going to see the surface unless they all wanted to go, or unless he was going to the youkai pizza place, Run of the Mill. He usually finds a lot of peace sitting reading comics or skateboarding in their sewer-slash-subway home and hanging out with his family. His own space is a little messy, a lot teenager with posters and action figures. Before their first home was destroyed, he kept awards and medals from their family's tournaments displayed as well. He feels most settled really when he's surrounded by the things that make him happy, that remind him of easier, non-threatening times.
