That's because you're a very likable person. [Lightly nudges his shoulder with the back of his hand before he has to pull back.] And we're pretty good at helping people adjust to some sense of normalcy. You should have seen the growing pains we had with Cassandra.

[ Hunter leans into Leo’s shoulder squeeze gently. ]

Woman who was an enemy, then changed sides at the last second. Pretty sure it's because she got to know dad, but she's a friend now.

She did seem very familiar with dad.

She fought with April all the time, broke a lot of things on accident and on purpose because she forgot she shouldn't break things, and she yells like all the time.

She has a tendency to drive me up a wall. It took a while before she and I managed to really communicate properly. Oddly, it was Barry who helped mediate that.

[ Oh. Well. THAT sure is a ping. Knowing that the turtles have already taken in a midboss makes Hunter relax a little. ]

I still don't know what happened with dad and Cassandra.

Draxum was all Mikey though. He was very determined on reforming him.

Señor Hueso is absolutely my favorite uncle, he just hasn't accepted his position in the family yet.

I really don't know why he hasn't, we've basically paid for his son's college.

You and Shirou, though Shirou is just me so far.

[ Hunter pinks a bit. Okay yes he likes being their first-ish adoption. ]

He is nice. He helped a lot until Leo showed up.

Having someone that just...understood. Who I could figure out how to talk to.

[pyrighteous]

[ Hunter's expression softens at that. ]

That's all it takes?

I have slightly higher standards, mainly not throwing me off a roof or trying to doublecross us.

Leo did not consent to being thrown off a high place. [Just in case Hunter Worries.]

He is also different from me. I rely a lot on familiarity.

For example, Leo. I have lived with him for years, and thus observed things that do and do not work and I can use that as a basis for when I have found myself in a situation I don't understand with Leo. Such as Leo likes magicians. I do not. However, since he likes them, I will engage in the topic or events in good faith because while I do not get his fascination, I understand he does have one and he likes sharing something he enjoys with us.

Likewise, Leo knows me enough to know how to translate my intentions. He knows I engage because I care about him and its nice to make him happy and at least I assume he appreciates the effort. He is also got a 98 percent accuracy rate at gauging when I am able to handle certain forms of touch or take certain kinds of fighting. A rate that has improved over time.

The want to understand and familiarize is a kind of affection I greatly value and appreciate.

But I had no one who was familiar, and that was...

Not great.

So having someone who understood easily for once? It helped greatly.
