We had panic buttons at home. [Unplugs mini-usb from Leo's phone and switches over to settings.] Contingencies for contingencies is standard procedure. [For Donnie, at least.]
...gets back to Leo's phone before moving that Panic at the App Store! logo to Leo's home page and turning to pass his phone back over to him.] Test it out.
[He sits quietly for just a moment, some reflection before he's being handed his phone. He stares at it before exhaling quietly and holds the power button for one.... two.... three seconds]
[And further down the workstation, Donnie's phone vibrates and lets out three shrill beeps. Donnie moves it closer to check the coordinates, then nods.] Good. Just keep in mind that I had the message bypass the lock screen, so it's not secure. Once I get a more custom setup, [casts a disappointed look around Rodney's lab] I can tailor more to our specific needs.
[Donnie will fully cop to the fact that he is selfish and wants his family here for support. He does not care if he's supposed to wish they are home and safe and not worried about them, no. He wants his little brother for the sunshine, his big brother for the safety, their dad for...well, he contributes, probably. And of course April, the bestie, for the obvious reasons.]
'Doing,' in what way? How we ended up here? This business with these 'Entities'? The bizarre phenomenon that occur without seemingly any rhyme or reason?
[Twirls a stylus thoughtfully between his fingers, a miniature display of how he moves with his bo.] ...I don't know.
[And Leo only gets that honesty because Donnie's coming around to the idea of maybe his brother being of somewhat decent leader quality when the discussion is frank and nobody's trying to beat their chest and forcibly be the one in charge.] I would need data. Archives, readings, personal accounts, equipment. I would need resources we don't have access to here, if they even exist at all. If we had a mystic problem, we could go to the Hidden City to investigate. Here? ADI is apparently the resource of the paranormal, and they have nothing. Or they do, but they're not willing to share.
Some of us manage to get by fine without, [Don points out, maybe a big smugly, because even though he has to admit that his own mystic powers are baller AF when they work, he can still pretty much keep up with his brothers without using them.]
[Just... a little annoyed. He's naturally skilled in their ninjutsu but the portals had made him indispensable, an integral part of his strategy. Mike's got his agility, Raph has his brickhouse strength, and Donnie has everything else. If Leo can't strategize, what good is he?]
So we're definitely going to try to find those records, right?
[Hey u know what? He is not the strongest, the fastest, or the most innately talented with ninpo amongst his brothers, so he will absolutely take smartest and utilize that to SHIT. Gotta keep that tech game up so he doesn't become obsolete.]
Peter and I are going to go through some files that ADI will let us access soon. I wanna see what they're willing to let us find first.
Yes yes, undoubtedly if there's anything worthwhile to find, we'll locate it.
[Pulls over another project with the intent on working on that while Leo either leaves or does whatever, but...hesitates.] About this Peter. What do you think of him?
Does he seem trustworthy? [He caught on to Peter hiding something on that first day with him hiding that wrist device, but not everybody wants to share their inventions with the world.
However, they're now investigating something together. He should know what he's getting into, and with whom.]
...I think so. Doesn't seem like he's super trusting of ADI right now. Seemed all right with me and didn't freak out. If he says something, it'll probably an accident because he's a little jumpy sometimes.

Just... Feels weird without them here too to even talk about it.

[Just looking down at his phone. He does wish their brothers and April were here. But at the same time, better? That they aren't.]
What do you think this place is really doing?

All of the above.
It's all a little too convenient.

Sounds like an infiltration job to me.
[A beat.]
I hate not being able to use our mystic powers. [Or ninpo. It feels... wrong, not being able to feel his brother.]

I think he's all right. [Cute.] Smarter than he wants us to know, definitely stronger than he wants to show off. He's quick.
