[Smiles a little at that but starts giving himself a couple bounces on the balls of his feet. Okay okay okay okay he's got this, he is totally normal about this.]
Let's see what you know!
[And comin' at him fast. No weapons, just his fists for now.]
[Leo is definitely fast. Peter loosens himself up, trying to trust his body more than his mind. He knows Leo, and he's comfortable with Leo, so he relaxes into this.
He doesn't have to be Spider-Man right now, just Peter.
It's muscle memory that means he shifted his stance to something more alert but ready for Leo to come at him. A first blow will be met with Peter smoothly shifting out of its range.]
[Peter laughs a little at the compliment, brightening up briefly. He's trying to stay light on his feet, more aware of his surroundings. Normally he just leans so much into his spider senses. Now he has to really focus for himself in a different way.]
Its all muscle memory right now, we'll see how far that carries me. [He jokingly flexes back at Leo, surprise, he is decently muscular for someone his size.]
[Oh he could tell when he helped keep Peter from falling, that arm around his waist. Peter dresses in ill fitting clothes and hunches a bit, but there's muscle there. What's this guy's story?
Another time. Right now it's for coming in with speed and to try and sweep Peter's legs out from under him.]
[Peter for his part is a little slower at predicting this. He sees Leo coming, and seems to know he can't dodge it in a timely manner. He preps for a fall. He hits the matted floor, but is surprisingly quick to roll out of the way.
Peter is still just trying to trust his muscle memory over his own need to overthink every movement or plan. He's loose and relaxed as he can be in the moment.
He gets back to his feet, but it's not as smooth as it could be. He actually takes the initiative to come at Leo. His punch could use some work, but he has a decent idea of how to throw it.]
[Leo lets him roll away - it's supposed to be a friendly training spar, after all - and smiles seeing Peter get right back up.]
Haha! Lookit you. [And then the punch is coming. Leo leans out of its way before grabbing his fist and letting Peter step by before turning that fist around to turn Peter hopefully off balance for a second.]
[That grab is much faster than Peter expects. Sadly, muscle memory can't quite save him here. Not when he over corrects himself. His brain over reacts to something his body in theory knows what to do
He stumbles back, and nearly topples over entirely. He manages to correct himself, but it's not particularly graceful.]
I'm a little prone to over-thinking. [Peter admits with a weak laugh, managing a smile as he re-steadies himself.] I got too used to relying on what I had before. Now I feel weird.
[Peter tries to take that advice to heart, but it doesn't mean much when he is just a little too slow to avoid getting put in a headlock. He does make Leo work for it by backing off quickly, trying to avoid the grab by ducking out of the way, but alas.
Grabbed.]
Still gotta work on that. [He does quickly try to break the hold, remembering what Mr. Barnes Winter had shown him in passing.
Peter is also distantly having the realization at how close they are now. He isn't sure what to even do with that.]
[He lets out a triumphant "HA!" at getting that headlock to work. it usually only works on Mikey, sometimes Don. It's not a particularly tight hold, but he's keeping it up.]
Yeah, you should. [Hm. yeah they are really close now. That's. Hm.
After a second of thinking a little too hard about that, Leo lets go and backs off a lot quicker than he really normally would.]
Right so. Work on going with the flow and using your speed to advantage. Is, uh. My thoughts.
[How quickly Leo backs off means Peter is a little unbalanced for a second, but he manages to not fall over. A success.
Peter laughs a little at the advice, smiling at Leo. He takes the criticism with ease, just adjusting his stance a little. He's clearly already trying to apply it by loosening up.]
I'll keep that in mind. Easier said than done, but, its something to work on.
[He'd watching that. Assessing. Yeah, okay. Okay, good. Cool. Definitely don't think about how that's the closest and longest he's been around a guy that wasn't his brothers or Casey Jr before and that is totally normal to feel his heart racing because they're sparring, yep.]
[This time Peter fares better at reading Leo's intent.
His movements still aren't quite fast as he's used to but Peter avoids the sweep as it comes at him. He leaps over it, turning quickly to attempt to grab Leo in a hold of his own.
He seems visibly triumphant until he overestimates his own footing and brings both of them down. It is a flurry of limbs and discoordination. He hits the floor first, Leo likely landing on him.
Peter tries to sit up a bit too quickly and bumps his nose against Leo's snout. Unsurprisingly their mouths brush against one another in the process.
Peter just goes very still before sinking back onto the floor.]
[Leo isn't used to people being able to read his movements, let alone normal humans. Peter's motions catch him off guard for half a second before the world is flipping around him and then he's on top of Peter and-
Oh.
He blinks feeling that pressure to his mouth for a second, then Peter lays back on the floor and leaves Leo just hovering a bit.]
Oh my god, I'm sorry. [He squeaks out, just, turning red as he lays flat on the floor. He is trying to make himself smaller under the other teenager and has no idea how to compute.]
[Wow a great idea right now? Would be to move. Get up and move but he just cannot make his legs work right this very second. His chest is fluttering something awful before he lets himself slowly sit backward and get a little distance.]
[Peter is turning redder and redder by the minute, eventually covering his face with his hands. What does he even say now!? What is he supposed to do?
If he could melt into the floor he would. Sadly, that isn't a superpower he actively possesses.]
I- um. Sorry.
[Well, at least the boy sitting on him is cute.
The thought drifts by in passing before actively hitting Peter and making him turn redder as he tries to process what that even means. Does he like Leo like that???
He always liked boys and girls pretty equally, but this is- new. He hasn't really thought about anyone seriously but MJ.
But Leo's weight is solid, and real. He's steady, confident, fun, and kind. He thinks Peter is cool, he laughs at Peter's dumb jokes, and he likes Peter. He isn't overly invested in Spider-Man stuff what he does know-
Peter releases a quiet squeak against his will as the realization hits him even harder.]
[It's the squeak that does it. Tips Leo to roll back onto his shell, then further back to flip onto his feet and off of Peter like he's on fire. Ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok ok he has to sort his brain out, he'll process this starting right now as a background process-]
Nothing to apologize for, sparring gets physical like that sometimes, happens all the time, yep. Don't even worry about it.

I mean it'll be a challenge for me to tone it down some. Not the worst thing.

Not bad, not bad! Good reflex.
