[Talking, someone is talking and he needs to pay attention because it might be important, it might give him the chance to steel himself. Leo tenses at the voice before it registers that it's Peter and it's safe. It's safe.
Everything hurts so much. Even turning his head has become a herculean task, muscles in his neck aching and sore before he rests it on the floor where he can see Peter. The words are still impossible to get out like this, but he lets out a quiet chirp to answer. Soft and tired, but a little hopeful.]
[Leo nearly jerks from the touch before settling. A spark of something from the feeling before he calms himself with a breath. It's Peter. He shifts trying to move closer and can't get far, but he keeps his eyes on his boyfriend.
The bedding doesn't come until after midnight. The two guards different from the first ones in the day. It's almost ceremonious the way he rolls out the thin, barely even worth it bed cushion and even thinner sheet. He gives the two a sneer as he turns for the door.]
[Peter ends up just curling up close to Leo, trying to not crowd him but afraid of moving away from him either. He missed Leo fiercely, but he also knows neither of them have the capacity or will to talk.
Peter rolls his eyes at the display, but waits until he's sure they're gone to slowly sit up and grab the bedding. He pulls it over, showing it to Leo.]
[Leo sits so still until the two guards leave. He barely cracks one eye open to look at Peter. But a cushion? He looks at it tiredly, then at Peter.
The way the muzzle's straps cut into his skin around his face is a dull ache now, not new anymore after the last couple weeks. The weight of chains around him keeping him to the floor is becoming familiar in a way he hates. But he nods at Peter before sitting up just enough to nudge Peter to it. That's Peter's cushion to sleep on.]
[Peter exhales a little, his expression softening at the nudge. He lays out the bedding more directly under Leo. The cushion is thin enough it can fit under the turtle very easily.]
I can handle sleeping on the floor for a night, Leo.
[He reaches out a gentle hand to work on the straps of the muzzle, more or less breaking it in the process.] Ugh, we're going to hear about this tomorrow.
[His expression at Peter saying he'll sleep on the floor just reads loud and clear: Uh huh.
But when Peter reaches for his head, Leo freezes for a moment. Then he realizes what Peter is doing, and ducks his head so it's easier to reach. Once the muzzle is gone, Leo takes a breath, shifting his jaw and opening his mouth, making shapes to stretch it out a bit.]
[Peter gives the look back in kind, but it doesn't last as he sets the muzzle aside. He places a gentle hand against his boyfriend's shoulder. Finding a place to touch that isn't hurt in some capacity is harder than Peter would like it to be.
We'll worry about that when we have to. Its my fault anyway. [He wants to hold Leo so badly, but there are a few problems in actually making that happen.]
[Peter shifts, so he can settle with Leo, trying to not take up too much of the mat in the process. He was thin to begin with, his time here and less than nutritious meals means he's only gotten a little thinner in the process.]
I just don't want you to get hurt because of me. [He presses a gentle kiss against Leo's cheek. Just hoping it gives him comfort as much as it gives Peter comfort.]
[Peter just tries to make himself smaller, laying close to his boyfriend. Leo's presence is a comfort here. It also just makes Peter wish Leo wasn't here at all. His boyfriend should be at home with his family right now.
This whole situation is a nightmare.]
Just... just tell me if I do anything that does get you hurt, okay?

Peter just feels... empty. The rest cleared some of the fog he had been operating with for the past few days, but it doesn't make the day any easier.]
Can I touch you-? [He asks this very quietly. Trying to give Leo some semblance of a choice.]

He gingerly touch his boyfriend's hand, not sure how badly he's even hurting right now. He can't even ask properly either.
Whenever his bedding is here, he'll give it to Leo. To ensure his boyfriend actually gets some rest.]

It isn't a lot, but its better than the floor.

Their fault for putting it on. [After a second, he shifts so there's room for Peter on the small mat with him.] So don't say it's your fault.

But he keeps his voice low, barely a whisper.] I won't. Not because of you.
