[It is TOTALLY normal to have little flips your heart and/or stomach are doing as you get up and walk to the gym to spar with someone your age right that's totally normal because he's only ever sparred like this with his brothers and that got him a different kind of excited like competitive excited because he knew he would wipe the floor with them but this is different and totally normal right]
[It takes a second for Peter to notice Leo's arrival. He's seated on the floor doing a runner's stretch. One leg is extended outwards, his hands placed on the tip of the shoe, and his head is bowed forward. His other foot is tucked close to his inner thigh. He practically folds himself inwards, oddly flexible.
He releases his hold sitting back up completely, brightening a little when he sees Leo. He runs a hand across the tank top he's wearing absently. It is loose, but not to the level of baggy clothes he usually wears. He's actually dressed in clothing that fits him for once.]
Hey! Sorry- I was trying to limber up. I've never like officially sparred with anyone before. I don't think fights count either-? [He pushes himself up onto his feet with relative ease.]
[Smiles a little at that but starts giving himself a couple bounces on the balls of his feet. Okay okay okay okay he's got this, he is totally normal about this.]
Let's see what you know!
[And comin' at him fast. No weapons, just his fists for now.]
[Leo is definitely fast. Peter loosens himself up, trying to trust his body more than his mind. He knows Leo, and he's comfortable with Leo, so he relaxes into this.
He doesn't have to be Spider-Man right now, just Peter.
It's muscle memory that means he shifted his stance to something more alert but ready for Leo to come at him. A first blow will be met with Peter smoothly shifting out of its range.]
[Peter laughs a little at the compliment, brightening up briefly. He's trying to stay light on his feet, more aware of his surroundings. Normally he just leans so much into his spider senses. Now he has to really focus for himself in a different way.]
Its all muscle memory right now, we'll see how far that carries me. [He jokingly flexes back at Leo, surprise, he is decently muscular for someone his size.]
[Oh he could tell when he helped keep Peter from falling, that arm around his waist. Peter dresses in ill fitting clothes and hunches a bit, but there's muscle there. What's this guy's story?
Another time. Right now it's for coming in with speed and to try and sweep Peter's legs out from under him.]
[Peter for his part is a little slower at predicting this. He sees Leo coming, and seems to know he can't dodge it in a timely manner. He preps for a fall. He hits the matted floor, but is surprisingly quick to roll out of the way.
Peter is still just trying to trust his muscle memory over his own need to overthink every movement or plan. He's loose and relaxed as he can be in the moment.
He gets back to his feet, but it's not as smooth as it could be. He actually takes the initiative to come at Leo. His punch could use some work, but he has a decent idea of how to throw it.]
[Leo lets him roll away - it's supposed to be a friendly training spar, after all - and smiles seeing Peter get right back up.]
Haha! Lookit you. [And then the punch is coming. Leo leans out of its way before grabbing his fist and letting Peter step by before turning that fist around to turn Peter hopefully off balance for a second.]
[That grab is much faster than Peter expects. Sadly, muscle memory can't quite save him here. Not when he over corrects himself. His brain over reacts to something his body in theory knows what to do
He stumbles back, and nearly topples over entirely. He manages to correct himself, but it's not particularly graceful.]
I'm a little prone to over-thinking. [Peter admits with a weak laugh, managing a smile as he re-steadies himself.] I got too used to relying on what I had before. Now I feel weird.
[Peter tries to take that advice to heart, but it doesn't mean much when he is just a little too slow to avoid getting put in a headlock. He does make Leo work for it by backing off quickly, trying to avoid the grab by ducking out of the way, but alas.
Grabbed.]
Still gotta work on that. [He does quickly try to break the hold, remembering what Mr. Barnes Winter had shown him in passing.
Peter is also distantly having the realization at how close they are now. He isn't sure what to even do with that.]
[He lets out a triumphant "HA!" at getting that headlock to work. it usually only works on Mikey, sometimes Don. It's not a particularly tight hold, but he's keeping it up.]
Yeah, you should. [Hm. yeah they are really close now. That's. Hm.
After a second of thinking a little too hard about that, Leo lets go and backs off a lot quicker than he really normally would.]
Right so. Work on going with the flow and using your speed to advantage. Is, uh. My thoughts.
[How quickly Leo backs off means Peter is a little unbalanced for a second, but he manages to not fall over. A success.
Peter laughs a little at the advice, smiling at Leo. He takes the criticism with ease, just adjusting his stance a little. He's clearly already trying to apply it by loosening up.]
I'll keep that in mind. Easier said than done, but, its something to work on.

Sparring first, the rest of All That later.]
Really? Man, you've been missing out. It's like - the best friendly competition you can kick someone's butt with.

[The sentiment is something more than a little odd given how much of a quiet nerd Peter is.]
I'm not... as strong or fast as I used to be here, so this isn't gonna be much of a challenge for you though, sorry.

I mean it'll be a challenge for me to tone it down some. Not the worst thing.

Whenever you're ready we can start.

Not bad, not bad! Good reflex.
