But stopping that wouldn't've mattered if something happened to you.
[He's honest with it; it's just the two of them and after the short stint that lasted eons in the Prison Dimension alone? He's willing to be a little more open and honest with his loved ones.]
So.. What, he had it on some kind of death switch or something?
[Leo being more open after the last two months of being squirrely feels... odd. Peter is surprised, and relieved in equal measure. He missed his boyfriend being open with him. He squeezes Leo's hand in his own gently.] I'd love to talk about the greater good or whatever right now, but, same. I dunno what I'd do if you were gone.
I think his suit was just recording everything. I don't know how he could've spliced any of that footage. I think he had a team or something somewhere. Otherwise he didn't actually die.
I saw him die. [Peter makes a face. Openly disquieted again. He never wanted Beck to die. He would rather the guy be in jail somewhere.] I sat with Beck until Fury came to get him.
He was... pretty dead. I deactivated all the drones and kept asking the AI in the glasses what was real. He revoked his access though, just so no one could use the glasses.
[Normally cuss words in the Hamato household are reserved for "humanity destroying level enemy from beyond human comprehension". Leo thinks Peter having to watch someone who tried to kill him die and then sit with the body until it was taken fits that just fine.
He'll take the moment to climb up and sit next to him on the bed. And then carefully envelop Peter in his arms. He's gotten a few inches taller and he's glad for it now, when it makes it easier to tuck Peter up against him.]
Right. So. Whenever you need it, ask. We'll let you know we're real.
[And for all his bravado, he sounds like he means that. He buries his face in Peter's hair, not caring at all that it definitely still has that lingering smell of chicken noodle soup.]
[Peter just presses his face against Leo's shoulder, just trying to keep himself here and relaxed.]
Thank you- I- I dunno how long May will wanna be here. Or what's gonna happen next. [The uncertainty is scary. Peter doesn't like it.] I don't wanna put you guys in danger either. Not with this.
I'm really wishing we could just have like a normal year. Just one would be really nice.
[He presses a kiss against Leo's shoulder, reluctant to actually go anywhere.] I'd really just like to lay here forever, but I need to find pants before May gets here.
[He takes a second, remembering that most people wear pants even in their home. Gives a quick kiss to Peter's hair before pulling away. Just to step over and dig through his clothes. Mostly shirts, jackets, hoodies- ]
Aha. [Comes back with some dark navy sweatpants.] Should be all right.
My hero. [Peter jokes lightly back, reluctantly getting up to accept the pants and try to get them on. Once he's properly pants'd he reach out to just pull Leo into another embrace, wanting to be close.
Peter is now realizing he smells like chicken noodle soup, the surrealness of it just makes him release a shaky laugh.]
Sorry I smell like soup. [Pause.] I've been souped.
[Peter ends up laughing again. The bunt makes his heart feel a bit lighter.] Next time you're feeling sick, I'll remember to soup myself, just for you.
I'm glad you're here, that we're all okay- [He strokes his fingers along the back of Leo's neck, just wanting to touch him. Peter would like to stay here forever.
Until the sound of May's slightly frantic voice breaks the reprieve]
Peter?
He's with Leo, May! We're all good!
[Peter reluctantly lets go of Leo, turning to look at the door of his sleeper car.]
[He feels a little better hearing that laughter, and how easier Peter sounds. Good. Good, that's better. They can work out the rest as long as Peter doesn't have a break down right here right now.
He leans into Peter just as May calls out and he sighs. Right. Okay. Responsible first, cuddle later.
God he hates being responsible. Leo debates for a second grabbing his brooch, but since she already saw Raph, she's probably already warmed up on that front. So he sits up and gives Peter a quick kiss before standing and getting to the door to shove it open.]
He's all right. Got him a change of clothes and he filled me in.
[Peter tries to stand up a little taller, but can't quite manage it. He drifts after Leo as the sleeper car door is opened. Raph, Donnie, and Mikey are awkwardly hovering around the open area with May.
Peter manages a thin smile when he sees May. He steps out of the car, walking quickly towards her. The woman visibly relaxes when she sees her nephew, though the worry still written on her features.]
Look, I'm okay, May- [He gets that much out before May cuts him off by rushing over and pulling him into a hug. Peter returns the hug with a relieved sigh. She only draws back after a squeeze to hold his face gently in her hands, looking down at him.]
Peter- oh Peter. You're okay? Right? None of that 'I'm fine' while you're actually not, right?
[Being called out so blatantly makes Peter choke on a weak laugh.] May! Yes!
[Her attention turns to Leo. Her expression still worried, fond and concerned rolled together. Leo and May's relationship still veered slightly on awkward at times, but the woman was still clearly fond of Leo.] And you, young man, should you be walking around yet-? Come here and settle down.
[May isn't entirely convinced, but Peter manages to distract her by placing a hand on her arm.]
See, it's okay. I'll sit down though. I kind of got soup'd today, so, sitting is good. [Soup'd is now a verb. It is also a good distraction. May releases a breath, irritation rising to the surface as she herds Peter towards the nearest seat. Peter accepts his fate.]
I still cannot believe someone threw soup at you! People were throwing garbage that missed. What is wrong with people!? All you do is help them! Now you're being accused of murder by that rag. Its yellow journalism at its finest!
We'll figure it out, May. [Peter does smile a little at May's impassioned rant, stealing a glance at Leo.]
[Leo smiles a little at Peter at that, stepping up to rest a hand on his shoulder.]
At the very least, he's got his own stuff here for showers and everything so he can get cleaned up whenever. And we've got plenty of extra clothes too.
[He hopes that helps her nerves a little? At least as far as them not having to go to May's apartment and risk being caught.]
[Peter leans into Leo's touch more out of habit than anything else, smiling back at him. He manages to avoid getting too mushy directly in front of May.
Though the older woman's worry lessens a little. Amusement there before she re-focuses her attention at the matter at hand.]
Thank you, that makes things easier. It means I can focus on tackling the bigger problem head on. I can reach out to a few lawyers, talk with Happy, get us situated.
[Peter huffs a little.] Kinda surprised Happy isn't blowing up your phone.
Give him time, he still might. Or she might have her phone on silent.
[Raph's done that a few times, but things got reasonably worked out after the emergency. But even he can feel Raph's plaintiff look from across the room, knowing it was pointed.]
But yeah, whatever you both need we got you. Peter's always had a room to sleep in, and we can figure something out for you too for now.
[He still has a bit of a hard time thinking anyone wouldn't want to stay in their very cool, very recently remodeled and up to date subway lair.]
[The suggestion of her phone being silenced does make May pause, the brunette woman pulling her phone from her pocket.
Peter snorts a little at the reaction.]
Yeah, we'll figure it out, May. Right now, let's... try to relax?
I need you to relax, honey. You were attacked by a mob today.
It... could have been worse?
[May flatly gives him a look and Peter shrugs awkwardly back. The look she continues to give him makes Peter finally move to sit down on one of the bean bags.
May turns her attention towards Leo, her expression softening at least to something openly thankful.]
Thank you, thank you all again. I do appreciate it. If you hear me raising my voice, its likely telling anyone who found my number because of this to shove off.
[He looks a little off guard that May is thanking them and accepting this so readily. But it probably is just the shock of what's going on, too much nonsense all at once that she hasn't been able to really process it in full. The time will come later, he's sure.]
Yeah... 'course. You're family.
[He rubs the top of his head down to the back of his neck looking around. Man, they have some work to do. And he'll... have to deal with his own feelings later. Alone, out of everyone's way. His own recovery and his own hurt that literally none of his brothers told him will just be something he nurses while everyone else is asleep.]
Think Mikey's probably working on making something. Uh. If you wanna stop smelling like soup, shower's open.
Probably a good idea. I'd rather not make the whole lair smell like soup. [He rises from where May had motioned for him to sit. May seems reluctant to let him go, but sighs a little. She just presses a kiss against his forehead, nose wrinkling a little as she pulls away.]
It wouldn't hurt, you do smell like chicken noodle, honey.
[Peter laughs a little at that.] I guess you start calling people-?
[May gives an easy affirmative, giving Peter one last peck on the head before she shifts her attention. The turtles get to deal with May talking in her most Head Of FEAST's Organization voice on the phone. It's a little intimidating.
Peter heads in the direction of the bathroom, intending to take a quick shower. After that, he's not sure what to even do next.
By the time Peter emerges from the bathroom, May has taken up a spot in the living room talking animatedly on the phone. Splinter is seated next to her, interjecting comments which she ends up using as well. The two are apparently on the same page with giving whoever they are talking to on the phone hell. Seeing the two working on whatever this is together is a little bizarre.
[While Peter took his time, Leo made sure Aunt May got settled in, Splinter making some fresh tea for now. Normally the hospitality would be a second thought, but with how tense everything is? They need it.
But Leo himself's gone to grab clean sheets for both Peter's bed and wherever they're letting May sleep for the night. Starting with Peter's, getting those sheets on.]

You have definitely been souped. I mean, I always like a guy who smells like the best cold and flu remedy meal. Makes me feel all cozy and safe.

Glad you're here.
