[He hums a little back out of ingrained habit. He offers Mikey one last squeeze before eventually fully drawing back.
With at least some lingering reluctance Peter heads back to his and Leo's room. He manages to get past people wanting to pepper him with questions.
He doesn't bother changing out of his uniform, just stepping out of his shoes and falling into bed. He lands on Leo's side of the bed but doesn't budge from it, just curling into a ball on top of the covers in his spider suit.
He takes his comm unit off, placing it on the nightstand near the bed to avoid triggering it. He debates even changing, but laying down has just made him realize how tired he is.
The brunette sighs softly, before eventually just falling asleep.]
[The world around him continues. The others keep working out details of what happened, going through the footage. Answering questions about what the plan actually is for the base and filling in what people had made assumptions about. Needless to say, a lot of the inciting rioters are a little embarrassed for jumping the gun.
But throughout it all, Mikey doesn't let anyone disturb Peter. He wants Peter to have all the time he needs to rest, process, cry, be angry. Whatever he needs before anyone needs him again.
It's at least a few days before Mikey comes knocking at their door.]
[Being given a break, one that is longer than just a single day feels wrong in a way. It takes effort for Peter not to insert himself in the middle. He had handled the fighting when it broke out. He considers that enough. It has to be.
When he's not with Leo, he's trying to come to terms with what happened. He's distracting himself with projects. He's mostly crying onto his origami books and into something he's making.]
Yeah, I'm up. Gimme a second.
[It takes him a moment to untangle himself from a project he's working on to answer the door.
He looks actually rested when Mikey comes knocking. Even if the bruising hadn't quite gone away yet. An oddity given his usual healing factor took care of bruises within a few hours to a day.
He opens the door, smiling at his youngest brother in law.] I was thinking of going to check on Leo. Do you want to come with me?

[Peter brightens visibly at that news. He readily takes Mikey's hand in his own, happy to fall into step with his brother in law to head down the hallway.
After the initial scare, the medics had pretty much closed visitation off to everyone. Not that it stopped Peter from trying to go see his husband. He would at least sit outside of the medical infirmary and hope the staff would change their minds.]
At this point, just being able to see him is good. Perfect. [Peter's own relief and joy at being able to see Leo means he's definitely less a walk, more a jaunt.]
We can figure out the rest when we get there. After we're sure he's okay enough, I can see if he wants Casey to come by. [The boy had been asking about his uncle non-stop.]
Oooh, he'll definitely like that. We got some updates from Don too, but it can wait until after we see Leo!
[It takes every ouch of baby brother energy to not burst that infirmary door open like he is meant to. He, instead, carefully squeaks it open to poke his head through first, then slide it open fully.]
[The infirmary itself is relatively quiet, only light conversation floating around from other patients in their own beds. No one really pays Mikey or Peter much mind.
The curtained off section where Leonardo is laid up has the curtain partially open, and no medics hovering nearby for once to shoo anyone away.
Peter releases a relieved sound as he lets go of Mikey to walk over to where Leo is.]
Leo-? Hey, its Mikey and I, we're here to see you.
[Leo's quiet, sitting up in the bed and staring down at his hand on his lap. He doesn't immediately respond, breathing a few times before looking up at Peter and Mike. His little brother doesn't waste a second to bounce in and move to Leo's right side, leaving the left hand for Peter.]
Omigosh, we were worried. How're you feeling, what d'you need?
[Leo watches him, still silent and then looks at Peter, his expression tired and worn.]
[Some of Peter's excitement to see Leo diminishes somewhat at how quiet his husband is. His mood softens into something concerned. He gently moves to his husband's left.
He reaches out a hand to just touch Leo's left hand.]
[Leo watches them both but his eyes go up to Peter. He watches him a moment then moves to wrap his arm around Peter's shoulder and try to hug him, bury his face in Peter's shoulder.]
Guess he really did wanna see you. [Mikey smiles watching them.]
[Peter releases a slow exhale at Leo wrapping his arm around his shoulder. The brunette readily yields to his spouse, moving to just meet him half way to hold him close. He wraps his arms around Leo, just wanting to keep him close.]
Yeah, I- yeah. [He had something in mind to say, but its gone now.]
[Leo clings to his husband another breath or two. He'd heard Peter, the last few days trying to come visit him. And every time being turned away so Leo could rest. And he knows Peter never actually left when asked to, that he just sat outside.
He finally does let go, Sits back again already tired. he's been recovering quicker than expected, but he still had lost so much blood he's having to deal with as the worst of the injury is healed over by now.
Mikey looks between them. His energy is somewhere between nervous and excited to spill a secret he's waited his whole life to tell.]
We're glad you're okay, Leo. Got some good news if you want it?
[Leo looks at Mikey. His head tilts curiously as his little brother looks between Leo and Peter.]
Um. Dee's already almost got a prototype arm for you to try on.
[Peter draws back once Leo does, just lingering close, still laying a hand against his husband's remaining arm. He just wants to hold Leo, but doesn't want to tire him out either.
He brightens a little, smiling again. He's more than a little surprised by how quickly Donnie had gotten that much done. It probably shouldn't be much of a surprise given the purple clad turtle always made his brother priority.] Oh- I hadn't realized he had the prototype done so quickly.
[The amount of sleep Donnie's had is probably countable on one hand. And who knows what sorts of projects he's worked on over the years as hobbies.
But Mikey smiles at them both.]
He said something about having 'something lying around' anyway that he could use, whatever that means, but it does mean you'll be back up to two hands in no time!
[Leo smiles just a little, his voice quiet.] That's great, Mikey.
[Peter idly strokes his fingers along the back of his husband's hand, just wanting some semblance of contact. He knows its probably clingy, but not being able to see or really talk to his husband for a few days left Peter feeling anxious.]
Knowing Donnie, he could have anything in his lab. [Peter offers as a mild passing joke, but his smile warms up just a bit further.] He'll have to talk with the doctors to see how to get things working.
[The logistics are out of view for now, but, it'll happen when it happens.]
[Not seeing the excitement on Leo's face at the announcement, Mikey's expression falls just a hair. He reaches to pat Leo's shoulder before starting to head for the opening of the curtain.]
Anyway - I'll go let Dee know you're awake so he can talk to the medics about scheduling when to come try it.
[He waits another second watching the pair before nodding and leaving. Even he can tell without looking at their ninpo they probably wanna be alone.
Leo watches him go... And then he's left with Peter..]
[Peter waves a little at Mike, smiling appreciatively back at the turtle before he makes his leave.
His attention shifts back to Leo. He briefly glances around for any lingering medic before he carefully sits down against the edge of the bed, just partially invading his husband's space. He's not completely close yet, wanting to gauge Leo's comfort before he ends up leaning into him.]
We'll pretend this is like the time May wouldn't take the hint we wanted to watch a movie by ourselves. [The two had kept sneakily inching closer together until they were touching every time May hadn't paying them mind.] At least until someone notices and has me sit in a chair.
[Leo watches Peter, the corner of his lips turning up just a hair. He looks at Peter's face before looking back down to his hand. Sees the bruising still on his skin.]
[The question seems to surprise Peter. For his part, he had compartmentalized the lingering bruising. He had a million other things he was thinking about he hadn't thought about the way he looked. The bruising hurting was something that was just background noise for Peter. Enough so he skimmed over it.]
Oh- no. I... not today. [He raises a hand to touch at his own face slightly.] It hasn't really been healing yet, I'm not sure why.
[Peter hadn't quite made the connection to how much of his own healing factor he had been giving Leo on and off being a factor in why.]
[Leo watches him carefully. Watches the bruises in Peter's skin as he talks, as he moves.]
There's gotta be a reason. [His voice is still quiet, but firm now. Something else to focus on, something that isn't himself.] What've you been doing differently since the day the riot started?
no subject
Of course, Peter. Y'know we're here too.
no subject
I think, I'll just lay down in my and Leo's room. [He draws back again, exhaling slowly.] If anyone else needs help too, I can get up.
[He just wants to sleep, but he's aware he probably won't get that option for particularly long.]
no subject
We'll let you know if we need your help with anything. 'Kay? But rest first.

That's what I came to tell you! He's awake, and medics cleared him for visitors again! C'mon!
