[He can't even look at Mikey right now, just pressing his fist more tightly against his forehead. The hand shakes where it rests, and he can't quite stop it.
His lips press into a thin unhappy line. He doesn't want to hurt Mikey, he doesn't want to make this any harder on any of them.]
Shitty, like this whole war? [He questions weakly back, trying to just push away from all of this.] I just can't let go. I can't...
[Mikey carefully touches his hand to Peter's, other hand moving to pull Peter down for a hug. A loose embrace but pulsing his ninpo, warm and gentle wrapping Peter's and shoving reassurance, love through his ninpo.]
Leo isn't going anywhere. He's in the hands of professionals looking after him and you have nowhere else to be until Leo's recovered.
[He has an excuse or two on the tip of his tongue, ready to try and leave.
Then Mikey's careful touch settles against his hand, and he pulls the brunette into a loose but gentle hug. The warmth of Mikey's ninpo curling around him, the reassurance and love, knocks every bit of strategy out of his mind.
His breath shakes as he closes his eyes tightly. Tears threaten to spill over as he hesitantly wraps his arms around Mikey. He's still afraid to let go, afraid of what happens if he can't pull himself back together quickly enough.]
[Mikey's happy to just hold his brother in law, rubbing his back gently. Encouraging and easy. He doesn't want to force Peter into being emotional, but just firmly let him know the space is there...]
Whatever you need, I got you, bro. And then we can help Leo together when he's ready.
[Peter swallows thickly, just trying to not actively cry. A few tears slip free as he tightens his grip carefully around Mikey.
He lowers his own defenses slightly, his own ninpo easing open between them. He doesn't even quite realize it. Mikey can likely tell Peter has been overextending his own magic for Leo. So much of the webbing stripped away to reinforce Leo's own ninpo.]
I just... I just want to lay down for a while. I'm so tired, Mikey. I'm so tired, I don't know what to do.
[He can sense it, see it. The way the web stretches so far, taut and frayed threatening to snap if it's pulled much further. He squeezes Peter gently, bolstering Peter's ninpo with his own, molten lava that cools into something solid around the threads of Peter's ninpo. Strengthening the connection there, so Peter know he isn't alone in this, in wanting to help Leo, in being worried about Leo.]
Okay. Okay, we can get you somewhere to lay down. You'll be able to think a little better after some sleep. All right?
[Peter sniffles a little bit. He only draws back to wipe at his eyes. Mikey's magic strengthening his own ninpo brings a little more strength to the sort of mutant.]
Sorry, I- I need to... [He stumbles over an excuse. He can't quite get it out.] If, I go sleep, at least for a bit will you keep an eye on him?
[Peter hesitates, not out of worry of Mikey's reaction. He knows his brother in law is an affectionate person. Just out of worry of taking up too much time, too much space.
He steps forward again to just carefully hug Mikey again. He feels like a broken record, but he wants to make his gratitude obvious.] Thank you.
[He hums a little back out of ingrained habit. He offers Mikey one last squeeze before eventually fully drawing back.
With at least some lingering reluctance Peter heads back to his and Leo's room. He manages to get past people wanting to pepper him with questions.
He doesn't bother changing out of his uniform, just stepping out of his shoes and falling into bed. He lands on Leo's side of the bed but doesn't budge from it, just curling into a ball on top of the covers in his spider suit.
He takes his comm unit off, placing it on the nightstand near the bed to avoid triggering it. He debates even changing, but laying down has just made him realize how tired he is.
The brunette sighs softly, before eventually just falling asleep.]
[The world around him continues. The others keep working out details of what happened, going through the footage. Answering questions about what the plan actually is for the base and filling in what people had made assumptions about. Needless to say, a lot of the inciting rioters are a little embarrassed for jumping the gun.
But throughout it all, Mikey doesn't let anyone disturb Peter. He wants Peter to have all the time he needs to rest, process, cry, be angry. Whatever he needs before anyone needs him again.
It's at least a few days before Mikey comes knocking at their door.]
[Being given a break, one that is longer than just a single day feels wrong in a way. It takes effort for Peter not to insert himself in the middle. He had handled the fighting when it broke out. He considers that enough. It has to be.
When he's not with Leo, he's trying to come to terms with what happened. He's distracting himself with projects. He's mostly crying onto his origami books and into something he's making.]
Yeah, I'm up. Gimme a second.
[It takes him a moment to untangle himself from a project he's working on to answer the door.
He looks actually rested when Mikey comes knocking. Even if the bruising hadn't quite gone away yet. An oddity given his usual healing factor took care of bruises within a few hours to a day.
He opens the door, smiling at his youngest brother in law.] I was thinking of going to check on Leo. Do you want to come with me?

[Peter brightens visibly at that news. He readily takes Mikey's hand in his own, happy to fall into step with his brother in law to head down the hallway.
After the initial scare, the medics had pretty much closed visitation off to everyone. Not that it stopped Peter from trying to go see his husband. He would at least sit outside of the medical infirmary and hope the staff would change their minds.]
At this point, just being able to see him is good. Perfect. [Peter's own relief and joy at being able to see Leo means he's definitely less a walk, more a jaunt.]
We can figure out the rest when we get there. After we're sure he's okay enough, I can see if he wants Casey to come by. [The boy had been asking about his uncle non-stop.]
Oooh, he'll definitely like that. We got some updates from Don too, but it can wait until after we see Leo!
[It takes every ouch of baby brother energy to not burst that infirmary door open like he is meant to. He, instead, carefully squeaks it open to poke his head through first, then slide it open fully.]
[The infirmary itself is relatively quiet, only light conversation floating around from other patients in their own beds. No one really pays Mikey or Peter much mind.
The curtained off section where Leonardo is laid up has the curtain partially open, and no medics hovering nearby for once to shoo anyone away.
Peter releases a relieved sound as he lets go of Mikey to walk over to where Leo is.]
Leo-? Hey, its Mikey and I, we're here to see you.

Mikey, I don't get the option to fall apart. That hasn't been an option in a decade. It won't be an option until the war ends.

Thanks, Mikey. I'm just... [He lets the sentence trail off, struggling to explain.] I'm just overwhelmed right now.

Of course, Peter. Y'know we're here too.

I think, I'll just lay down in my and Leo's room. [He draws back again, exhaling slowly.] If anyone else needs help too, I can get up.
[He just wants to sleep, but he's aware he probably won't get that option for particularly long.]

We'll let you know if we need your help with anything. 'Kay? But rest first.
