If I do that, we'll be up to our ears in turtles. [He jokes easily back, just sidestepping the inevitable truth of the moment. He would run out of paper soon enough. It was a luxury he could even do this.
He just watches Leo undress, just basking in the sight. Its nice to just see his husband come back down to himself.
The tail wag is also very cute. He could watch that tail wag all day.] I should try my hand at other animals anyway.
Hm. I remember I saw some cute spider patterns before. Could probably figure something out.
[That all out of the way, Leo looks at his husband again. He did promise. He even did extra so he could have a late morning, just set things up for everyone else to get the day started so they have an extra hour or two. His steps are light and decisive coming to the side of the bed, kneeling down next to it and reaching one hand to Peter.]
Don't know what I'd do without you. You know that?
Maybe. I think you'd be the only one who would want a spider though. [Peter muses with a smile, relaxed where he's lain.] I'll see what I can find.
[The easy declaration just makes Peter go a little pink. He readily reaches out as well to take Leo's offered hand.
He's stopped deflecting compliments these days, but he still is never sure how to handle them.] I get that feeling sometimes. [A tease since it helps him keep from going any pinker.] The feeling is mutual though. I don't know how I'd...deal with any of this without you.
[Leo immediately squeezes his hand. No questions asked, just smiling up at Peter now.]
I think you'd wake up, put on that suit, and do what has to be done. Because you bring hope to everyone. Including me. But you'd be just as right to throw the suit out and call it. Whatever you need to do for you.
[He kisses the back of his hand, feeling how warm Peter feels against his skin-scales, his own fingers rough and calloused from handling weapons nonstop. He rubs his fingertips in circles against Peter's palm feeling it, how small his hand always feels in Leo's.]
[Peter just turns a little pinker at the sentiment. The flush spreads to the tip of his ears. He would keep carrying on where he could, but Leonardo was his rock. He always had been. Peter isn't sure how he would cope without his husband.]
Now you're just buttering me up. I'm just... I just do what I can. That's all I can do. [He laughs softly, just shifting somewhat back.] C'mon, I warmed up your spot. I want to hold you.
Oh did you? Well, I can't let your hard work go unappreciated.
[Leo carefully hefts himself onto the bed. If he takes a few extra seconds to physically drag himself over Peter to get to his spot, who can prove he'd do such a thing on purpose? But Peter is warm, and so are these blankets. He wants more than that. All of it, he wants to suck all of Peter's warmth out of him for himself.
He hums to himself as he settles there on the pillow.] Mmm... yeah, I think you're right. Proper warmed up.
[The shift in tone is enough to surprise Peter considerably. He falters a little, not entirely sure what to say.] I was mostly- thinking about keeping the bed warm I mean?
[Leo's expression is a mixture of hurt, confusion, and I fucked up again what did I do this time that Peter is likely familiar with. Had he done something to make Peter think he's just a bed warmer? That he isn't a valuable part of their team, their intel and scouts? One of the fighters that can keep up with the Hamatos and can get civilians to safety faster than most of them?
Or was Leo just... on edge from earlier? Thinking too deeply about something that probably doesn't matter. Not really, Peter was probably just making a joke. He presses his face down into the pillow with a muffled, tired groan.] Ignore me. Don't listen to me.
Leo... [God, he fucked it up by being too jokey. He just wanted to make Leo laugh a little. He hadn't thought all that deeply about the connotations behind the joke.] I'm sorry. I was... that was a stupid joke. I was just thinking of it literally I guess? Since I'm warm and always heat up the bed faster?
[Even his attempt at explaining the situation just feels stupid. Reaching out to rub Leo's shell gently.] I don't want to ignore you. I want us to be on the same page.
[He shifts, just rolling onto his side to face Peter. He rests his hand on Peter's, thumbing idly at his wrist. While he wouldn't call Peter 'fragile', humans really are... their skin breaks and bruises so easily, they get hurt so fast. They have no outer protection, no thicker skin or scales... Leo knows Peter is tougher than most humans because of his own mutation-that-isn't-a-mutation, has watched Peter get hit by cars and Krang and parts of buildings only to get back up and spit the blood out of his mouth and keep going.
But Leo still worries. He worries about that soft pink flesh under his thumb as he rubs circles into that spot, warm and gentle.
They do these talks sometimes. Periodic check-ins when it's been a rough day or two. Just flatly laying out facts.]
I feel bad about earlier. About egging you on when we didn't have time just to beef it.
[Peter laces their fingers together again. He's quiet as he waits for Leo to speak.
The urge to reassure Leo is immediate, but... it isn't how this goes. Laying this out plainly is the better way for both of them to not jump into trying to fuss at each other.]
I feel bad about earlier too. [That feels like a good start.] I got too carried away with- wanting all of it. I didn't think about how I was pushing you a little too far.
[His eyes search Peter's expression for any hint of ridicule, negativity for the situation... A large part of him still blaming himself for the whole war to begin with and looking for someone to blame him for something since no one will openly blame him for losing the Key.
But he finds nothing. Just his husband watching him.]
...No, we haven't. Despite some of our best efforts sometimes... [He sighs softly at that. No blame, no accusation. Just facts. He tugs Peter's hand to him, moving to sit up a little and kiss at the soft skin in the inside of his wrist.]
Was hoping to fix that tonight. If you'd let me. [The way his eyes cut up to watch Peter's face... Leo's nervous. Anxious.]
[There lay no blame there, just Peter watching. Concern for his husband, but nothing genuinely negative.
Peter's lips quirk into a smile at the tug, and the feeling of Leo's lips pressing against the inside of his wrist.
His smile brightens a few more degrees. He moves a little closer to his husband. Affection is easy enough to read on his features as he looks at Leo.] I'd like that, a lot. We deserve that time to ourselves.
We do. And that's why I've got our schedule cleared and completely closed until nine o'clock morning meeting.
[He could light the sun with that smile. Leo could fuel all of Donnie's security machines and the entire base with that smile Peter levels at him. He would bottle it up and use it any time someone needed something nice.
Right now, that's his. That smile is his alone to cherish. The way the corners of Peter's lips folds ad crinkle up, the way - when he really is feeling that joy, that happiness - the smile reaches Peter's deep dark beautiful eyes. Leo knows he would do anything he has to to protect it. Protect Peter.
He presses his lips to that same warm sensitive spot of Peter's wrist, holding his mouth there.]
[He hums against the skin, feeling that vibration happening with a smile.] I'll take care of you, then.
[There are so many things he could do. That he wants to do. They have all night (he should be smart, he should be responsible, on the off chance something happens in the morning, they need to be rested-) and they both know how many rounds they could go before the war swept up all their thoughts and energy.
Leo trails his snout down, along the inside of Peter's forearm to his elbow, just barely touching the skin. Just reacquainting himself with Peter's skin again. Slow and steady.]
I know you will. [He says this easily, belief there. He doesn't doubt Leo. He knows with time the two of them can actually have a good time.
Peter is definitely going a little redder now. He can't quite stop himself from feeling flushed.
His gaze focused on Leo, watching his careful ministrations. He readily yields to Leo, relaxed under his touch and attention.
For the moment, he can pretend they don't have bigger responsibilities to attend to tomorrow. Right now, this is their everything. There isn't a war, there isn't a need for them to be responsible for the remainder of New York's population or fighting aliens.
They are just Peter and Leo. That's all they need to be.]
Mm. Do you? [It's playful the way his tone lilts up at the end. Leo runs the edges of his sharp teeth against the skin. A tease. An offer, or a promise. Whatever Peter feels like.
But he kisses his way back up Peter's arm to his palm, his fingers. Kissing his fingertip so so gently. Like it's the most beautiful piece of art he's ever seen and he doesn't want to risk breaking it. He'll gladly take his time getting Peter wound up if it means he gets to lavish attention to him like this.]
Feels like I should prove it to make good on it before you know it. [He keeps kissing and mouthing at Peter's fingertips, his other hand tracing along Peter's middle feather light, from his hip to his belly.]
[Peter shivers openly at the teasing. He bites at his bottom lip slightly. Peter reaches out with his free hand to lay a hand against Leo's side. The moving mouth, the traveling hand...]
I feel like we have a pretty good track record to go off, baby. [He makes sure to side step the awkwardness of earlier in the day.] Not counting the times I fall off the bed or get stuck to the bed. We're not counting those.
[Leo could probably count some of those as victories. It isn't often Peter loses control of his ability to stick to surfaces.]
Oh, I dunno. Maybe we should. Some of them, at least.
[For once, Leo's glad Peter got here and settled in before him. It means Peter isn't wearing his binder and Leo can properly tease him with his fingertips just trailing along the fabric of his pajamas. Not before he takes Peter's pointer finger between his teeth, carefully putting pressure on it. Not full on biting, but enough Peter can feel it.]
Uh-huh, which ones-? [He questions back, unable to stop himself from squirming somewhat. The ghost of Leo's trailing touch is already making Peter's nipples start to harden a little under the fabric of his shirt. It is hard to miss given the fabric isn't particularly thick.
The pressure of the not quite a bite just adds to it quite a bit.
Peter is trying to remind himself to be patient. They actually have time for once.]
[He can tell. Leo can feel it the way Peter's muscles tense and jump at his touches, can almost smell the beginnings of it on him. Peter's already getting warm enough Leo can feel it radiating off him. He wants more of that, more of that warmth both on and around him. Time, though. A little time, a little patience will make it feel even better.
With that reaction, Peter squirming, Leo hums against his fingertip again before taking that finger between his lips to mouth at it gently before letting it go, kissing down his palm again. His hand on Peter's middle settles to stroking just under his chest line, following the outline of Peter's chest through the fabric. Not quite putting any pressure, not being firm with anything. Just light enough Peter can feel it.]
Might have to enlighten me on those ones again. [Peter exhales softly, trying to banter, but obviously distracted.
How light everything is, well, it's doing a fair job of making Peter squirmy. Having amplified senses means he's finding it hard to focus on anything but those teasing feelings. The continual teasing across his chest does a good job of making his nipples harden completely through the fabric of his shirt.
Peter has always been easy to tease and that hasn't changed with age.
His grip tightens a little where his hand has stayed against Leo's side. He moves his fingers lightly across Leo's side, dipping against the space where shell and plastron connect.]

The flush returns with a vengeance. Peter laughs softly in turn, just drinking in the sight of his husband kissing his wrist.
A quiet intimacy they haven't really had in forever. Something Peter missed as much as he missed their more playful moments.
