[April isn't coming. He's known it for a good fifteen minutes now, he just didn't want to acknowledge or say it out loud. But she is definitely not coming and this is a double cross that normally Leonardo would respect, but right now he's feeling very attacked.
He'll get her back. This is nice, and he can appreciate the effort, but he will get her back for this.]
No she definitely is not coming and this was on purpose.
I was starting to think it was. [Peter leans a little further back into his seat on his side of the booth. This is the most one-on-one time out of costume he's spent with Leo since he realized his crush.
He had been building up to trying for an actual attempt to ask Leo out. His seven part plan kept falling apart every time he tried. He thinks about the necklace stashed in a box under his bed and turns a brighter shade of red. His gaze is locked on the table top.
He forces himself to take a breath, peeking at Leo.
He stumbles over his words, trying to just actually get to the point. His grand plans kept falling apart, so maybe this would work?]
A while. [Excellent explanation. He starts to smile just a little, the relief starting to shine through.] Um, I tried asking you out... last week, but Meat Sweats blew up that deli. The week before that when those silver fish stole Hypno's worm guy, and the week before that when we chased after that taco truck before it blew up...
[The immediateness of the response both eases Peter considerably and surprises him. He starts to return to a more normal color as he smiles at Leo hopefully.]
Good- we- we can eat here and do something else too. If we wanted.
[Peter releases a short breathy kind of laugh, reaching out to take Leo's hand in his own. Figuring out finger placement will take some time, but, he's excited to figure that out.]
Um, do you wanna order anything?
[Peter remembers seeing waiters and Hueso SR drift by once or twice looking at them meaningfully. He had no idea why. He's starting to guess why now.]
[Yeah, Hueso kinda knew what was up. Soon as Peter says that, Hueso stops by with a sigh and a pizza in hand.]
I was told you would be needing this, Pepino. [He hates this actually but whatever it's not like he likes seeing Leo happy or anything, even as he sets that pizza down with a couple plates.]

Is this... did she like...?
Was she trying to make us actually go on a date?

Do... do you want it to be a date?
no subject
Stops and looks at Peter across the table. Like he isn't... sure what to answer.]
...And whhhhhat would you say if I said yes?
no subject
I'd- like it if it is a date. [Time for Leo to discover Peter's blush spreads to the tip of his ears as he bites at his bottom lip nervously.]
I've been trying to ask you out for a while.
no subject
Wait, really? Since when?
no subject
[Three weeks of attempts thwarted regularly.]

[HAVING IT SPELLED OUT...]
That's what you were so nervous about the last few weeks?

He opens and closes his mouth nervously.] Do you- wanna call this a date? And- we try to make it fun?

[He sounds so earnest about it. There's nowhere he'd rather be right now, leaning over to Peter a little looking a bit awestruck.]
Whatever you wanna do.
no subject
Can I hold your hand-?
[Given how close they've been standing when hanging out, hand holding feels like a nice natural next step.]
no subject
[Again, not even a second's hesitation, he's got his hand on the table between them already. But his face is turning its own darker shade.]

Aw, you already knew.
no subject
He's likely been told to just be casual, but he really can't manage that with adults.] We really appreciate it.
no subject
Of course. Your friend, ah. Miss O'Neil sends her regards.
[OH LEO'S GONNA GO AFTER HER.]
no subject
He is still holding onto Leo's hand, briefly oblivious to the fact he should probably let it go.]
Well, thank you- still, I mean.
no subject
Leo for his part is just watching Hueso leave, chin resting on one hand, other hand still holding Peter's.]
So I'm definitely getting April back for this.
no subject
Is this a bide your time thing, or are you going for an immediate response after this?
