That weird temple wasn't good, but it wasn't the worst. Not by far now that he's back in this dimension. He floats a bit aimlessly, body broken, shell cracked and falling apart, some bones and insides shattered. His head aches in a way that he can't think.

All he can really do is hope Prime doesn't find him immediately right now. The light off his ring catches his eye and he looks at it, not fully registering that it's lit up.

[ It doesn't take long for Hunter to return; being able to blink is convenient like that. He dashes back with a couple of books in hand. ]

I - uh - forgot which one we were on, so I brought a couple options.

[neonleon]

[Leo immediately brightens at his return, some energy coming back to him.]

Probably good, I don't remember where we left off either. So hey, if it's a repeat then we get a recap, right?

[pyrighteous]

Right! Exactly.

[ He settles a book on his lap. ]

[neonleon]

[Leo looks So comfortable in this bed despite the situation and the bandages and all, and is smiling so relieved at Hunter.

He sort of hunkers down where he is, cozying up in his spot.]

Good when you are.

[pyrighteous]

[ Good. Hunter just takes a moment to gaze, then, glad to see Leo settled. ]

-- Right uh. Then when we last left off, they were dealing with the ship getting attacked ...

[ He starts reading to Leo, doing ALL the voices. ]

[And look, Leo is paying attention. He is INTO it with the voices and all.

But he is still very tired. So it's probably halfway through when his eyelids start drooping and his head starts falling back. It really doesn't take long for him to fall asleep listening to Hunter.]

[pyrighteous]

[ Aww. Hunter sees that? He reads on a little bit more just to be sure, but eventually stops. ]

Rest well, Leo.

[ And he changes back into a bird to stay cuddled with his fiancé while he sleeps. ]

[It's easy to rest well with how peaceful this wing is. There's not much coming and going, the talking is quiet whispers around them, the breeze outside is easy to sleep to.

Hunter being cuddled up against his neck helps just as much, if not more. He doesn't know how long he's asleep for. The sun's setting to dark purples outside when he starts shifting awake. Everything is sore, his whole body hurts. The healers did good work initially but they'll have to make another session or two to get everything.

Leo looks around groggily before settling on Hunter's small bird form.]

...Hey, you.

[pyrighteous]

[ Hunter, too, was utterly exhausted by the ordeal. Not hurt, of course, but between the wild, rushed efforts of prepping the healing team, and then getting the portal door retuned to go to the prison dimension, and then actually finding Leo...

He spends the entire time sleeping, his little birdie face pressed firmly against Leo's neck. He only shifts when Leo does. ]

Mmmm? Leo...?

[neonleon]

[Adorable. He smiles a little, leaning his head some to look at him better. Raises one hand up to pet at his head softly.]

Hey, Hunter.

[pyrighteous]

[ He jolts back to wakefulness all at once. ]

L-Leo! Are you okay? Is everything okay?

[ FLAP FLAP ]

[neonleon]

Yeah- Yeah, I'm fine, it's fine. Just waking up is all.

Did you finish the book?

[pyrighteous]

Oh. Good.

[ He settles back down. ]

No um. I stopped when I noticed you fell asleep.

[neonleon]

[Oh.... He fell asleep while Hunter was reading, feelsbad.png.

He keeps petting along Hunter's little feathery head.]

Least I didn't miss the good parts, right?

N-no! Of course not. I'd never read those without you.

[Just!! Smiles even more.]

Thanks, Hunts. Knew I could count on you to wait for me.

[pyrighteous]

I'm a good fiancé.

[ He butts his head against Leo's hand. ]

What time is it...?

[neonleon]

[OH... hearing that again, "fiancé", does weird things to his heart.

But he looks around.]

Uuuhh, no idea. Probably late? I dunno what time you got me here.

[pyrighteous]

[ Hunter flaps up to Leo's head to peer out through the curtain. ]

Yeah ... I think it's nighttime. Let me go find a healer for you.

[neonleon]

So day and night is similar to Earth then? Cool. Uh. Didn't wanna just assume that.

[Normally he so would. But it's Hunter, so he's trying to be ... self aware where he can.]

[pyrighteous]

Pretty similar, yeah. We even have a moon.

[ He flutters off, leaving Leo alone for a moment. ]

[neonleon]

[Just kind of makes a Oooooo noise at that! A moon even, yes. Beautiful, perfect for gazing at together when he's less. Hurty and in pieces.]

Huh. I wonder if they know he can turn into a bird. [Just. Musing to himself.]

[pyrighteous]

[ GOOD QUESTION. Hunter is not currently here to answer it.

When he returns, he's bipedal again and holding a fresh tray of soup and some simple foods (looks like eggs and apple juice.) ]

They'll be over to check on you soon. In the meantime, I brought you some stuff.

[neonleon]

[He's almost drifting again but perks and sits up with Hunter comes back, smiling up at him. Leo even scootches a bit so there's some room and everything.]

Right, uh. Cool.

[He's going to be trying to pay Hunter back for this for a long time, he can feel it.]

[ Probably. Hunter's oblivious, though - just so glad to see Leo alive and healing. ]
